AISAA has moved in a positive direction to a sustainable award system. Recycled  trophies, which are made from recycled wood for the bases and recycled bottle caps  for the main body of the trophy and recycled individual medals. Each AISAA Member  school can lower the overall cost if we gather our own plastics. 

The change to recycled materials for trophies and medals was a conscious decision  to align with our values of sustainability and environmental responsibility. By using  recycled materials, we aim to model for our students and community that success  and recognition can be celebrated in meaningful ways without creating unnecessary  waste. 

We understand that these awards are different from traditional trophies and medals.  They may not carry the same “shine” as traditional trophies; however, they carry  a deeper value in representing creativity, sustainability, and a commitment to our  planet.

This is a message we want our student-athletes and community to carry  forward beyond the competition. 

That said, we will also continue to review the quality of these items, such as ensuring  letters don’t peel off, so that the awards remain something our students can feel  proud to display.
